Asthma and Allergy Sufferers must take Extra Precautions during Winter

Although allergy sufferers get relief from outdoor allergens during the wintertime, they can still receive sinus symptoms, similar to that of the common cold, with the addition of pain and pressure in the face and head. Typically those that suffer from sinus symptoms also suffer from outdoor allergens. Sinus pressure and other symptoms can occur in the winter due to the cold, dry air. Also, changes in Barometric pressure, a measure of the pressure in the atmospheric air, can create sinus symptoms. If the weather is constantly changing, it can take a toll on a person with sinus problems. Sinus symptoms typically consist of sinus headaches—pressure and pain in the forehead, nose, and cheekbones—but can also produce a sinus infection of which symptoms are post-nasal drip, sore throat, slight fever, weakness, fatigue, and sometimes a cough.

Sinus symptoms can be relieved with the help of medications, or by keeping a warm, damp compress on affected areas. Vaporizers or aspirators can also be used to clear congestions of the nose and relieve sinus pressure. Allergy Asthma Technology’s Sinus Care products effectively relieve sinus symptoms that may occur during the winter season. The Moist Heat Compress works to relieve sinus pressure and pain in the face and forehead by conforming to the face for easy and comfortable relaxation. The object is microwavable and can be used for other purposes, such as muscle pain and tension. Another sinus relief product is the SinuPulse Elite that works as a pulsating irrigator to reduce congestion of the nose and throat. Clinical studies have reported that the pulsating irrigation works 100 times better than the non-pulsating irrigators. The pulse also helps to relieve sinus pressure and pain. This product offers a natural and drug-free remedy that is small enough to travel with.

Individuals with allergies can also be affected by the allergens lurking indoors, especially when spending a great deal of time indoors during the winter months. Because doors and windows are sealed shut as to not let cold air in, it can create poor air circulation, allowing indoor allergens to linger and cause allergy symptoms in those allergic. Dust mites are the main culprit of indoor allergens. They are tiny, microscopic insects that feed on the dead skin cells of humans and animals, and hide within carpeting, furniture, and bedding. They prefer to live in habitats that are warm and humid, which makes a person’s bed the ideal environment. Individuals are allergic to dust mites because of a certain protein in their waste. To prevent dust mites from inhabiting bedding, sheets, pillow cases, comforters, etc. must be washed often in hot water. Individuals can also get allergy free bedding that is woven extremely tight to lock out dust mites and bed bugs. Allergy Asthma Technology’s Allergy Free Bedding comes in a variety of bedding products that effectively prevent dust mites and bed bugs from entering while offering comfort and warmth during the coldest months of the year.

Allergy season may be harmful to asthma sufferers, but the wintertime can sometimes be more dangerous. While indoor allergens may also affect asthma sufferers, they are better off remaining indoors during extremely cold temperatures. Simply breathing in the cold, outside air could trigger an attack. Asthmatic individuals should wear the proper protection, such as a Cold Weather Allergy Mask, before heading outdoors. The cold weather mask is lightweight and made of artic fleece thats warms the air before it is inhaled, preventing an attack. Those with asthma should also use their inhaler or take medication before stepping outdoors in efforts to prevent an attack. Handheld Portable Nebulizers allow individuals to have an inhaler on them at all times in the event of an attack.Taking extra precautions during the coldest months of the year will enable asthma and allergy sufferers to live healthier lives.

New Study shows Link Between Fast Food and Asthma in Young Children

Eating fast food produces asthma and auto-immune disorders in children

The direct connection between obesity and eating too much fast food is well documented. Now comes research showing that consumption of fast food, particularly among young adults and teens, may lead to worsening of conditions such as asthma, allergies and skin conditions such as eczema.

Asthma, eczema and other immune disorders are shown to be on the rise in populations of children and teenagers who consume fast food at least three times a week. Getting kids to eat more greens and whole vegetables, especially in substitution for fast food, produces a reduction in risks of allergies, asthma and eczema. But good luck convincing the kids it’s worth it.

Fast food eating habits

As you can imagine, kids accustomed to eating fast food or who are pressed for time in their daily schedules are less than enthusiastic about altering their fast food diets. Plus they enjoy the taste of fatty, salty and sugary fast foods over the bland but healthier alternatives mothers might pack in their lunches, if kids would even consider that.

That means the fast food generation keeps getting fatter and sicker and now, it is documented, suffering an increase in asthma and allergies.

Could it be called an epidemic of fast-food-itis? That depends on your perspective. But the evidence is compelling.

Respiratory truths

A medical publication titled Thorax: The International Journal of Respiratory Medicine produced a report based on studies of more than 500,000 children in 30 different countries, showed that asthma and allergies appeared in at least 39 percent of teenagers who consumed fast food. A study in 2011 showed that these same conditions decreased when children ate vegetables and fruits in their diet.

Getting asthma from the inside out?

The lesson here is that asthma in many cases may affect people from the “inside out.” Diet has much to do with how healthy you are, and a diet dependent on fast food rich in processed ingredients, chemicals and preservatives clearly has an adverse relationship on the “inside out” health of people young and old.

Kids often ignore such connections in favor of living the youthful lifestyle, not watching what they eat over eating for fun or convenience as compared to thinking about food as foundational to health and nutrition. The young mind often cannot see down the road to a life riddled with health problems because of eating habits established while young that lead to asthma, allergies and other health problems.

Responsible asthma management

Given the difficulty and time it takes to win over young minds to better nutrition, the first and foremost responsibility of every parent is to protect their child with asthma.  Asthma Control Devices provide products to help people of all ages with asthma:

The Pari Trek S Compact Portable Nebulizer provides fast delivery of asthma medication. It can be used anywhere, anytime and includes:

The Dirty Politics of Flu Season

It’s flu season again, and the dominant flu strain this year is called H3N2, which is just a fancy term for yet another brand of flu virus that uses dirty politics to get inside your body and make you feel like crap about the world in general.

Just so you know, the flu is non-partisan

This year’s strain of the flu is flattening people Right and Left. It cares not whether you are Democrat, Republican or Libertarian. It doesn’t care what race or creed you are. It only cares that you are human and yummy. Flu viruses like to live and grow in human beings. It’s as simple as that.

That means that no matter where you live, in a Red or Blue state, you need to learn about the dirty politics of the flu and take precautions against it.

How to elect not to get the flu

The most common move people make to avoid getting the flu is to get a vaccination. A vaccination works by reinforcing your natural constitution using an injection of dead flu virus to help your body generate antibodies that fight the flu from the inside out. Getting vaccinated is essentially like turning bad guys into good guys, because the vaccination introduces dead flu germs into your body so that it learns to recognize the “bad guys” and uses natural disease-fighting processes to build up immunity.

There are potential drawbacks to vaccinations. Flu vaccinations use some chemicals that some people think are just as bad for your body as the flu itself.  Plus, flu viruses are known to vary in their genetic makeup. That means the vaccination you get may not produce the exact kind of antibodies needed to fight the strain of flu you’ve contracted. That is not good, because it means you’ll get some form of the flu anyway. And that means you’ll get to barf and poop and cough and hack away with the rest of us. The flu is really democratic that way.

Flu prevention is the true body politic

So what else can you do to avoid the flu? Many people believe building up natural immunity with good diet and overall good health practices is the best defense. But you can also start a really good campaign against the flu virus using modern technology, especially tools that kill the flu virus and other germs before they get to you. It’s true! There really are ways to combat the flu before it gets to you.

Clear the air first

The Germ Guardian 3-in-1 Air Cleaning System uses UV-C technology to kill flu, strep, common cold virus and bacteria in the air you breathe. It also traps airborne allergens using true HEPA Filtration to eliminate 99.97% of the stuff you breathe that can make you cough and wheeze whether from allergies or asthma. It also filters out pet dander, mold spores, pollen, household dust (and dust mites). The Activated Carbon Charcoal Pre-Filter in the Germ Guardian delivers odor control too, so that even if someone in your life does get the flu, you won’t be trapped inside breathing stale and loathsome fumes that can you feel just as sick. After all, one rule of politics is that ideas often define our reality. The same is true with the flu. If you think you’re getting sick you just might do so.

Put some teeth in your anti-flu campaign

You can stop the flu right at the gateway of your mouth using the Zadro UV Toothbrush Disinfectant Scanner to prevent the spread of colds and flu.  The UV light in the toothbrush scanner kills whatever viruses and bacteria remain on your toothbrush after brushing and rinsing.  The scanner works quickly, fits neatly over your toothbrush, and can do double duty as a toothbrush travel case, so you can take it with you. No more worry about those germs on the hotel sink, just trust the UV Toothbrush Scanner to kill viruses and feel good about brushing your teeth any time you want.

Show no mercy to flu viruses

This flu has no mercy on you. Why show mercy to the flu?

Make a smart political move and knock out the flu right out of the human race with the Nano UV Wand Large Area Disinfection Scanner. The UV Scanner disinfects 99.9% of all viruses that cause colds and flu. The 10-second scanner eliminates flu viruses as well as SARS, E.Coli, salmonella, bacteria and molds.

Want portable satisfaction and flu prevention wherever you go? The Zadro NANO-UV Disinfection Light Scanner is the size of a cell phone and goes absolutely everywhere. Zap flu and cold viruses, bacteria and other germs off grocery carts, restaurants, hotel rooms and public restrooms. You can even use this device (or the Large Area Disinfection Scanner) to kill bed bugs and dust mites at home or wherever you travel. Both are great for eliminating allergens too! UV Scanners might just be your best friend in the whole world when it comes to keeping you safe and healthy.

Cast your vote for the anti-flu ticket

It’s time to cast your ballot and elect not to get the flu this year. is where you can start by punching your anti-flu ticket. We even promise not to needle you about getting a vaccination.

Dealing with Eczema is Easier with the Right Products

Eczema treatment requires smart habits and good products

Eczema seems like it comes out of nowhere at times, but that is where knowing some secrets about eczema and how it gets started can help you learn how to identify and deal with your particular problems.

Learning eczema inside and out

The type of eczema that essentially comes from inside your body and causes outbreaks on the skin is labeled atopic eczema. That means you have a pre-existing tendency for your skin to become inflamed. All sorts of triggers may generate atopic eczema, and consultation with your dermatologist and testing may be necessary to determine the root causes of atopic eczema.

The other type of eczema that is produced as reactions to outside substances or materials is known as contact dermatitis, which manifests itself as reactions on the skin such as redness, itching, dryness and even sores.

Combatting contact dermatitis is a question of surveying the conditions in which you live and work to identify possible irritants in your environment.

Dust mites and eczema

For starters, you should consider whether the sheets, mattresses and pillows in your house may be touchpoints for allergies and even eczema on your body. Bed sheets and covers can be collection points for skin irritants left behind by dust mites. Dust mites exist in virtually every home, and eliminating dust mites can be a time-consuming, expensive, even impossible process.

There is a simple, effective step you can take to guard against letting dust mites rule your life. In some respects, dust mites perform a very natural function. Basically they are garbage recyclers that eat the dead skin you slough off. However dust mites also poop after they eat, generating additional microscopic bits of material that when allowed to float in the air you breathe, collect in your vents and carpets, and settle in your bedding can lead to sometimes severe reactions including allergies and possibly even eczema.

Using dust mite and bed bug covers in place of standard sheets can help you eliminate a large percentage of the irritants produced by dust mites. The finer weave of these bedding products can greatly reduce dust mites and bed bug infestations in your mattress, box spring and pillow covers. When combined with allergy free bedding you reduce risks of both eczema-producing irritants and allergens that can lead to sneezing, wheezing and misery from watery eyes. While the connection between eczema and dust mites remains somewhat conjectural, it remains wise to reduce the cycle of skin irritants in general if you are susceptible to conditions such as contact dermatitis.

The overall eczema puzzle

Solving your personal eczema puzzle, whether it derives from atopic or contact dermatitis, requires study of your lifestyle and products used in daily hygiene.

Researching your use of soaps and detergents to determine whether they remove the natural oils from the skin, leaving you susceptible to irritation is one of the first and most important steps in curing your eczema. It is best to replace scrubbing soaps with an emollient in the bath and shower. Then consider using an Eczema Cream that is ideal for daily use to get eczema under control.
TriDerma Eczema Cream for face and body contains no cortisone, making it gentle enough for regular use, even with children. Its natural ingredients moisturize skin without a greasy feel and can be applied directly by hand. You’ll feel relief and renewed comfort with your own skin.
Use a shower filter to reduce chlorine by 90%
Known eczema irritants include chlorine in standard issue water that comes out of your tap and shower. People with eczema simply cannot allow chlorine to continually irritate their skin. The Rainshow’r Shower Filter greatly reduces eczema risks by using the best chlorine filtration available. This product helps keep your skin younger and healthier by “softening’ the water. It even reduces fading of color-treated hair. Choose your reason, but know this shower filter can do the job, including:
Removes 90% of chlorine in water
Chlorine is converted to harmless zinc chloride through the filter
     Delivers softer, more manageable hair
     Relieves dry skin and scalp
Shower head helps control bacteria and mildew
     Totally harmless and non-toxic
Attaches directly to your shower head
Very easy to install – no tools necessary
Stainless steel screen filters out sediment in water
Uses a specially selected quartz filter to treat water

While these products and processes will not completely eliminate your risk of developing eczema, they are important steps to incorporate in managing your condition and to make it less serious. No one likes to scratch and itch their way through life. Better to scratch the itch of curiosity about what you can do about eczema.
