Allergy Asthma Technology Provides Tips on Staying Healthy during a Severe Flu Season

Allergy free products are effective at killing germs in and around the home in order to prevent the spread of flu viruses

Doctors from around the country have predicted this flu season to be the worst one in many years, and are already diagnosing a number of cases. They say the best way to avoid obtaining the virus is to get the flu shot. However, not everyone is eligible for the vaccination, and therefore must use other prevention techniques. Allergy Asthma Technology’s products use advanced technology to kill germs on the spot, restricting the spread of the virus.

According to nbc.com, every year about a fourth of the US population catches the influenza virus, and an average 36,000 people die from it. Symptoms--fever, chills, aches, cough, and nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea--can last for a week or two, but can become serious for individuals with weak immune systems or those with chronic medical conditions. According to the US Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, the number of flu cases usually peaks mid-January, but doctors were seeing a high number of cases in early December, meaning flu season has arrived early this year. Because of the early arrival, doctors predict it can only get worse.  The types of flu viruses that are said to be going around are H3N2 and H1N1, along with Influenza B, a milder case of the virus.

Officials say the best way to prevent obtaining the flu virus is to get a vaccination shot. However, not everyone is eligible for the vaccination, in which other precautions must be taken in order to prevent the flu. Individuals should constantly wash their hands and use a hand sanitizer with an alcohol base, and try not to touch their faces. UV Sanitizers can be used on surfaces in and around the home to kill germs on the spot. Allergy Asthma Technology’s UV Sanitizers use the same technology that has been proven effective in hospitals to create a sterile environment. An ultra-violet light works to penetrate through the micro-organisms’ cell membranes in order to damage the DNA. In addition to killing germs and bacteria, the ultra-violet light kills other micro-organisms such as allergens, bed bugs, dust mites, and mold bacteria.

Allergy Asthma Technology provides a number of different types of UV-C sanitizing products that are effective in disabling the transmission of viruses. Some of the products are in the form of a wand, such as the Nano-UV Wand Large Area Disinfection Scanner, that reaches about two feet long, but are contractible, in order to kill germs on larger surfaces, such as countertops, tables, bathroom areas, beds, and desks. Other sanitizers, like the Zadro Nano-UV Disinfection Light Scanner, are compact and can be used on-the-go to disinfect surfaces anywhere. The Zadro UV Toothbrush Disinfectant Scanner instantly kills germs that may inhabit tooth brushes for healthy, germ-free brushing every time. Although the devices contain UV technology strong enough to eliminate germs from surfaces, they are not strong enough to directly harm human skin. Such devices are ideal in households with young children or elderly individuals, for they are more susceptible to the flu viruses.
